Synopsis: Zeke and Luther have their sights set on becoming the world’s best skateboarders, but this often appears harder than it seems. Their frenemy Kojo is constantly looking for ways to best Zeke and Luther and Zeke’s sister Ginger often uses the two boys for her own personal gain. Zeke and Luther have managed to get a sponsorship with Riot Skates and they hope that this can be their big ticket to the top.
This show is funny for a few reasons: the main characters are airheads, the situations they get into are almost improbable, and the cast is composed of characters that have such strange quirks it’s a wonder there is any sense of normalcy. It is about two friends with a passion and a dream that they will do anything to fulfill and this shows in the overarching plot. Some of the stranger minor and recurring characters are likable, mostly owing to their unique personality traits (one of the girls who has a crush on Zeke lives in a pink doll house in her parents driveway, another is a power walker turned skater and caterpillar enthusiast) that often do little to drive the plot forward, but make for some fun stand-alone episodes. The boy’s shenanigans are often over the top (as with a large number of teen sitcoms) and the adults in their lives range from bumbling to inspiring, but they want to do the right thing even if it means going to extreme lengths to do so. Zeke and Luther is currently in its third and final season on Disney XD.
